VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!Evaluation & Orientation Night - The first impression that a child has of their Upward season is at evaluations or orientations. Help us make sure it is the most exciting and welcoming experience possible for them. Volunteer to run skill stations, size uniforms, welcome parents and children, and provide directions. Time Commitment: 4 hours (November 6th, 9th, 12th, 13th)
Greeters - Show us your smile and be a greeter at Upward events! Welcome players, cheerleaders, parents & fans and show the love of Christ and help deliver an excellent sports experience. Time Commitment:
(Usually on Saturday, time depends on number of volunteers and games)
Head & Assistant Coaches – (Basketball & Cheer) Impact the lives of children and
have fun while you volunteer as a HEAD or ASSISTANT COACH! Use your talents to teach
sport fundamentals as well as the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity and respect for authority. Never coached before? Don’t worry, Upward will provide you with all the resources necessary to teach the sport, share life lessons and coach your team. Time Commitment: 2-3 hours a week (1 hour practice; 1 hour game; 30 minutes – 1 hour preparation time)
Referees - Have a great understanding of the rules of the game? If so, use this gift
to make an impact in the lives of children as an Upward referee. Never refereed before? Don’t worry, Upward will provide you with all the resources & training you need. Time Commitment: (Usually on Saturday, time depends on number of volunteers and games)
Game Day Gym Manager - Are you an organizer, like to keep things on schedule, have a flare for theatre? Then be the face and voice of Upward by using your skills and manage a game day location. Ready teams for games, announce players and cheer teams and help make it a great day for parents & player alike. Time Commitment: 4 hours a week (normally on Saturdays)
Practice Devotion Leaders - Love to share the love of Christ with kids?! Use that passion to assist coaches in delivering practice devotion & scripture reading to players and cheerleaders. Time Commitment: as much as your heart desires (3 Saturdays and then weekdays for 8 weeks)
Setup & Breakdown - Assist Gym Managers on game days with setup and
cleanup. Time Commitment: 1 hour a week (normally on Saturdays)
Fundraising – Like to bake, are you creative? Put those skills to use by fundraising for the Emmanuel Church
Upward Ministry – help us to bring the love of Christ to the kids in our community! Time Commitment: will vary
Prayer Partner - Will you partner with us through prayer as we seek God in every aspect of our Upward league? We are in need of those who will be committed to praying each day for our Upward season to change lives. Time Commitment: 5 minutes a day for 100 days
